Crochet Plastic Bag

Created this crochet plastic bag from the collection of grocery store bags.

It is all begins that one day last year, I was browsing craft website, and saw a post shows using grocery plastic gas to make a shopping tote. I was immediately hooked, but at that time, I don't think I will have enough plastic bag to finish a large shopping tote. Because I usually bring my "German cloth bags" with me. But sometimes, I still get grocery's plastic bag home.

The bag here, it took me about 2 years of plastic bag collection (But I was so happy when I finally find a good use for those bags. Because not all of the grocery bags are recyclable.)

This is the plastic yarn later become part of that bag. People who thought this idea 1st is such a genius!! The sad thing is because the uniqueness of crochet plastic bag, same people actually force themselves to get MORE plastic bag from store. In that case, we are not helping the environment...not green...because Green is not what you buy, but how you live!

I use the pattern from Craftzine.com(Link) and did some alteration...it is not hard. Just remember to use what you have in hand, not to ask for more, or we are actually produce more plastic garbage in the dumpster. The purpose of this bag is to REUSE, RECYCLE, and REDUCE!

I am a TAIWANESE not CHINESE

(This image is from http://insectlin.wordpress.com/2008/03/23/2t_headlines/ his blog)

On March 23, Taiwanese elect a new president. Although I support another candidate, but I don't mind he is the new president as long as he can really solve current economical crises.
BUT I am really MAD is that my fellow Taiwanese failed two referendums on U.N. membership. Which gave China better excuse to control international acknowledgment and block Taiwanese voice to represent in those world organization.

It is also really sad to see most of the major media focus on the result of these two referendums instead commenting on the difference of human rights between Taiwan and China. (Especially Tibet riots is a hot topics regard to the 2008 Olympic game.)

I do agree that Taiwanese news media and two parties (DPP and KTM) try to use these two referendums to cause controversial during the presidential election. BUT, the result of the referendum also represent how TAIWANESE voice to the world that we are NOT part of China. Too many people only disagree due to public media told them not to vote...so we fail.

In many newspapers report that "
China's Taiwan Affairs Office has told reporters in Beijing that the failure of the referendum shows Taiwan's people do not support those who promote independence." =>This is not what most of the Taiwanese think!!! They are just too afraid to become another Tibet, or too afraid that if Taiwan announce independent, the economy will slump the the bottom. (Because China is the major country controls world economy, so nobody will support Taiwan to ruin their relationship with evil Chinese government.

I am not a pessimistic person, I believe one day all the Taiwanese can stand straight and announce or glory independence! YES, WE CAN!!!

Back from Lone Star State

I am back..back from a long driving (total is about 1580 miles) road trip in Texas.

In the end of 2007, my laptop's hard drive dead...and I don't know why forgot to back up all of my photos taken in 2007..so..I lost all of my 2007 photos..pretty sad, but I overcome it! Because I still have those memories in my mind..that will never lost!

This is my 1st time to TEXAS...and I felt betrayed by the weather. YES!! TEXAS is not warm at all when I was there..it is cold (well, not as cold as north east..but 32F is cold!!). Funny thing is when I visited one of the four missions in San Antonio, I chat with a national park ranger and he told me that is not my fault. There were several Canadian tourist group visiting San Antonio...they brought the cold weather down to Texas. (Ha! that remind me the song in South Park-Blame Canada!)

Over all, besides cloudy and cold, there is only one rainy day...just kind of said that I can't took photos for typical Texas sunny sky. I do like to go back visit some day~
