I am a TAIWANESE not CHINESE

(This image is from http://insectlin.wordpress.com/2008/03/23/2t_headlines/ his blog)

On March 23, Taiwanese elect a new president. Although I support another candidate, but I don't mind he is the new president as long as he can really solve current economical crises.
BUT I am really MAD is that my fellow Taiwanese failed two referendums on U.N. membership. Which gave China better excuse to control international acknowledgment and block Taiwanese voice to represent in those world organization.

It is also really sad to see most of the major media focus on the result of these two referendums instead commenting on the difference of human rights between Taiwan and China. (Especially Tibet riots is a hot topics regard to the 2008 Olympic game.)

I do agree that Taiwanese news media and two parties (DPP and KTM) try to use these two referendums to cause controversial during the presidential election. BUT, the result of the referendum also represent how TAIWANESE voice to the world that we are NOT part of China. Too many people only disagree due to public media told them not to vote...so we fail.

In many newspapers report that "
China's Taiwan Affairs Office has told reporters in Beijing that the failure of the referendum shows Taiwan's people do not support those who promote independence." =>This is not what most of the Taiwanese think!!! They are just too afraid to become another Tibet, or too afraid that if Taiwan announce independent, the economy will slump the the bottom. (Because China is the major country controls world economy, so nobody will support Taiwan to ruin their relationship with evil Chinese government.

I am not a pessimistic person, I believe one day all the Taiwanese can stand straight and announce or glory independence! YES, WE CAN!!!
